Work With MGE
Contribute to work that strengthens institutions
MGE works with critical and complex operations across industries to strengthen the systems behind critical missions.
Working with MGE means contributing to work where institutional purpose comes first, evidence matters, professional judgement matters, and the quality of the outcome matters more than the appearance of activity.
We bring together people with different forms of knowledge, experience, capability and perspective because strengthening institutions rarely depends on one discipline or one way of thinking.
What contribution means at MGE
MGE encourages people acting for or on behalf of MGE to contribute:
- observations from practice
- professional knowledge and experience
- ideas and alternative approaches
- evidence and analysis
- concerns and questions
- professional judgement
- lessons from implementation
- opportunities to strengthen an institution, engagement or outcome
Hierarchy determines authority; it does not determine who is permitted to think, observe or contribute.
MGE seeks to recognise and appropriately encourage contributions that strengthen its work, institutional outcomes or organisational capability.
Capability before convention
MGE does not believe that a person’s potential contribution can be determined reliably by hierarchy, status or conventional assumptions about capability.
We recognise that people contribute in different ways and that valuable capability may come from professional experience, technical knowledge, institutional understanding, practical experience, analytical ability, creativity, judgement or other forms of contribution.
MGE looks beyond conventional assumptions about who can contribute and how capability should appear.
Disability, for example, does not define a person’s ability to think, create, learn, lead or produce meaningful work. Where appropriate and practicable, MGE seeks to remove barriers through accessibility, reasonable accommodation and adaptation so that capability can be expressed rather than unnecessarily constrained.
MGE is equally committed to ensuring that women can contribute and develop with dignity, safety and equal respect, free from sexual harassment and gender-based discrimination.
A Responsible Working Environment
MGE expects professional relationships to be based on respect, integrity, responsibility and trust.
People working with MGE should be able to raise questions, identify concerns and contribute professional judgement without being disadvantaged merely because they challenge an established approach or bring a different perspective.
We do not tolerate discrimination, harassment, intimidation, humiliation, threats, bullying, retaliation or abusive conduct.
Safety is also part of responsible work. MGE seeks to maintain appropriate physical, psychological and professional safeguards for people working with us and for people involved in our engagements.
Our expectations are set out in the
Evidence, learning and professional judgement
MGE’s work depends on the ability to distinguish what is known from what is assumed, what evidence demonstrates from what it merely suggests, and what has been experienced from what has yet to be tested.
People contributing to MGE are therefore expected to treat evidence, knowledge and information responsibly.
We value people who are willing to:
- ask difficult questions;
- test assumptions;
- learn from experience;
- recognise uncertainty;
- connect evidence with institutional reality;
- improve an approach when evidence shows that it should change;
- share knowledge that can strengthen future work.
The objective is not simply to perform a role well. It is to contribute to work that leaves stronger capability behind.
Different roles, shared responsibility
MGE may work with people through different forms of engagement, depending on the work required.
employees · specialists · consultants · advisors · contractors · interns · temporary personnel · people engaged for particular assignments or interventions
The nature and conditions of an engagement depend on the role, responsibilities, applicable requirements and the specific opportunity.
Regardless of the form of engagement, people acting for or on behalf of MGE are expected to uphold the standards relevant to their role and to respect the constitutional responsibility with which MGE is entrusted.
What we look for
MGE looks for people who can contribute meaningfully to complex institutional work.
Depending on the role, this may include:

Judgement
The ability to distinguish what should be done from what can be done.
Evidence discipline
The ability to work responsibly with evidence, information and uncertainty.
Institutional perspective
The ability to understand how decisions affect the wider system and the purpose it serves.
Contribution
The willingness to share knowledge, ideas, questions and concerns that can strengthen the work.
Integrity
The willingness to act honestly and responsibly, including when doing so is difficult.
Adaptability
The ability to learn, adjust and contribute across changing circumstances.
These qualities may be expressed differently across different roles. They are not intended to replace the specific qualifications or capabilities required for an individual opportunity.

Work with purpose
MGE’s work is ultimately about what becomes stronger because we were there.
Whether someone contributes through institutional knowledge, technical expertise, analysis, implementation, leadership, coordination, learning or another legitimate role, the standard remains the same:
Contribute responsibly. Strengthen capability. Leave the institution stronger.
MGE seeks to leave the people who work with us stronger because they worked with MGE.
